I started this painting with the mother holding a baby, later this baby turned into flowers. The way she holds the flowers like she held her baby reminded me of mothers who lost a(n unborn) child and women who never bore a child. The title “Wear Them Like Ornaments” is derived from a scripture in the Bible: Isaiah 49:18 “Lift up your eyes and look around; all your children gather and come to you. As surely as I live,” declares the LORD, “you will wear them all as ornaments; you will put them on, like a bride”
