Some places have unnoticed beauty. This is usually a place I’ve visited very often and never thought much of. I went downtown Veenendaal (“het dorp”) with Roel and Nienke for a photo shoot and it happened. I started to notice things I never did before. We started off at an old church and walked about, searching for good spots. Looking at the pictures I almost can’t believe this is really Veenendaal. I mean, I like the city, but I never describe it as ‘pretty’ or ‘beautiful’. Maybe I have to now. Well, at least for this post. I captured tiny alleys, old walls, funny old buildings, colored houses and even a cute little attic. The house with the blue door reminded me a bit of the movie ‘Notting Hill’. Needless to say, I kind of like Veenendaal a lot more after this shoot. And it taught me that there’s beauty to be found anywhere. I can prove that point by the pictures I took on the attic of a second hand shop. The place wasn’t really inspiring from the outside, or even from the inside, at first. But we climbed a staircase and then another one and we suddenly found ourselves at this really pretty place. I loved that!
So, pretty unexpected scenery this time. And Roel and Nienke are one of the easiest couples to photograph. I barely had to say anything, just keep my camera ready and shoot.
